1. Overview

mayaNess Society ("mayaNess", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. By accessing or using mayaness.org, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly — including your name, email address, area of interest, and assessment responses when you submit a membership enquiry or subscribe to our communications. We also collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps) for security and analytics purposes. We do not collect payment card data directly; all payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. under their own privacy policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: process and evaluate membership applications; communicate with you about your application status and Society updates; improve the content and functionality of our site; comply with legal obligations; and prevent fraud and abuse. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies required for the site to function (session management, security tokens). We may use analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage patterns. You may disable cookies in your browser settings; however, some features of the site may not function correctly without them. A cookie consent notice is displayed on your first visit.

5. Sharing of Information

We share your data only with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the site and delivering our services — including Stripe (payment processing), our hosting provider, and email delivery services. These providers are contractually bound to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of mayaNess, its members, or the public.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by applicable law. Membership application data is retained for the duration of your membership and for a reasonable period thereafter. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 8).

7. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict certain processing; and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@mayaness.org. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

The mayaNess Society is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
